Je Suis Charlie

 Dear Mom and Dad,

You've undoubtedly heard about the attack on Charlie Hebdo's Paris offices. There's no need to worry about my safety, though, as right now, I'm in Cannes. What's happened is horrible; I can't believe it took place just 5 kilometers from me, TK, and John's apartment. When was the last time terrorists acted in Paris, and on such a large scale? I know the events are unrelated, but so many bad things are occurring in different parts of the western world, like the Sydney cafe shooting just two weeks ago, and, though harmful to a lesser extent, the Sony hacking orchestrated by North Korea. The reasoning, however radical, behind the Sony hacking, and now the Charlie Hebdo shooting, was that people were releasing work to the public which disrespected these attackers' beliefs. But both France and the United States are nations where freedom of speech goes unquestioned, and neither France, nor any country whose people are granted liberty, can let terrorist attacks change our mindd about freely expressing our thoughts.
Hope all is well in Mill Valley. Talk to you soon.

Love,
Fergus
